A Space for Deep Healing and Self-Discovery

Trauma is more than just a memory of a difficult event; it is a physiological and psychological response that can leave you feeling disconnected from your body and your life. Whether you are navigating the aftermath of a specific event or struggling with the weight of buried traumatic memories, these experiences can manifest in countless ways, some of which can be chronic anxiety, emotional numbness, relational instability and conflict.

In my practice, I provide a specialized, trauma-informed environment where you can safely explore these experiences. We work to move beyond mere symptom management toward a state of peace and empowerment.

Specializing in Complex and Repressed Trauma

Trauma often operates beneath the surface of conscious awareness. Repressed or "hidden" trauma can manifest as unexplained physical symptoms, sudden emotional triggers, or a persistent sense of "feeling stuck" without knowing why.

I help clients gently bridge the gap between their current distress and the underlying experiences that caused it. By creating a space of absolute safety, we can process these buried narratives at a pace that respects your system’s boundaries, ensuring you are never overwhelmed by the very process meant to heal you.

How Trauma Shows Up

In Your Body

A persistent "tightness" in the chest or a nervous system that feels like it’s always on high alert. You might deal with exhaustion that sleep doesn’t fix or a sense of being physically "numb" to the world around you.

In Your Quiet Moments

A mind that won't stop scanning for what might go wrong next. You may find yourself trapped in loops of "what if" or struggling with a heavy sense of guilt or shame that doesn't belong to you, making it hard to trust your own perspective.

In Your Daily Life

Noticing that you are withdrawing from people you love or, conversely, feeling a desperate need to fix things that feel out of your control. You might find yourself overreacting to small stressors or avoiding certain places and conversations because the emotional "cost" feels too high.

My Approach with Trauma

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for Trauma

In trauma work, CBT is utilized to address the maladaptive cognitions and "safety behaviors" that develop as survival mechanisms. We work to identify and challenge the distorted beliefs—such as "I am unsafe" or "I am at fault"—that often follow a traumatic event. By restructuring these thoughts, we reduce the power of the trauma to influence your current decision-making and self-perception.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

I lean on EMDR because it is consistently effective at helping the brain do what it does best: heal. It allows the brain to resume its natural healing process by reprocessing traumatic memories so they are no longer stored as "living" threats in the nervous system. This modality is particularly effective for sexual trauma, as it helps desensitize the physiological triggers and flashbacks that keep the body in a state of hyper-arousal, allowing the memory to finally become part of the past.

Motivational Interviewing (MI)

The journey of trauma recovery can be daunting, and it is natural to feel a sense of ambivalence or fear about revisiting painful experiences. I use Motivational Interviewing to help you tap into your intrinsic resilience and desire for a life no longer defined by your past. This collaborative technique ensures that you remain the driver of your healing journey, reinforcing your autonomy and commitment to the recovery process.
